Don't you realize how that username can offend many ppl? And the fact he flew in on Heavy Metal and didn't know he was on a coding web site.. .. or so it went last time.. wasn't he banned?
Hitler is a common surname in much of Europe, and the use of that name doesn't bother me at all. What does bother me is EVERYONE constantly bashing this kid. That's why QBasic News got shut down in the first place, that kind of petty bullshit.
Hitler isnt that common as a surname.
I wouldnt mind if his name was Hitler, but his name is Zach.
And I dont hate him, infact, I dont have anything at all against him.
And on a sidenote, the thing that made me tick was when my birthday picture got removed for containing the word: fork (going around censor, edit it if you feel like it Pete)
But being named Hitler (unrelated to your name), which is definitely associated with the killings of millions of innocents is allowed.
If I named myself: JewHater, JewKiller or Bro.. would you let me keep posting?
Yes, I would let you continue posting. I refuse to censor these forums. In fact, we've already had a poster named SS_LuckyStrike -- someone who took his name from Nazi Gestapo (the SS). I didn't stop him, just like I won't censor you or anyone else.
It's better to let the world know that these types of people and opinions do exist, rather than to censor and ban these people just because you don't agree with them. I would rather talk to them and find out why they feel that way rather than persecuting them based just on their screenname. Besides, instantly hating someone named "Hitler" or even "JewHater" is just as bad as them hating Jewish people. Either way, it's a bigoted viewpoint...you just don't think your opinion is bigoted because you're in the majority and you (obviously) believe that you're right. But you still dislike someone that you don't even know for no reason other than appearance (on the web, your screenname is all you can go by). Isn't that the same thing?
Last year, I made a documentary where I interviewed an Imperial Wizard of the Ku Klux Klan and racist radio hosts. Although I disagree with many of their views, I don't hate them. And once I began talking to them to find out why they believe what they believe, I began to understand them. In fact, I found common ground with them -- we both love our right to free speech, and refuse to support any type of censorship. I'm NEVER going to become some kind of dictator and start censoring people on my forum, no matter how much I disagree with them.
