The Adventures v1.0 |
First Impression |
Wow, look at the awesome intro! That's a good way to start this off, TMB! This program (although I could tell it was done by amateurs) looked very professional. It reminded me of Yoshi's Island for SNES...just a very primitive version. It's got bright, pastel - like colors, pretty cool, "loosely drawn" graphics, but very poor control. You can barely move! |
What It's Like |
You're a delivery man hippo on a side-scrolling adventure. You fight enemies with your companion, the little ball on beaches and jungles. I can't beat the 2nd level because of the horrible control. You simply can't move! Otherwise, this is a very nice game with cool graphics and a nice, flickerless engine! |
Other things you should know |
Not much... Um... This has a good idea, and pretty good programming (both an .exe and the .bas file are included in the zip file). This uses DirectQB very well. Nice scrolling background and foreground, with enemies walking back and forth, mindlessly. |

Graphics |
The graphics have a 'style' to them. They're very primitive, yet are nice despite it. Strange. They have vibrant colors with the psychadelic look to some of them. I can't give them a perfect score, because they aren't perfect.

Sound |
A couple clicks on the PC speaker. I won't count this because it isn't really significant...

Game Control/Play |
This game would be excellent if you could actually control your character. Actually, I take that back. You can move okay. You slide and kill enemies, and make some jumps, but sometimes, you die for no apparent reason. You don't get near a cliff or an enemy, and you see the Game Over screen. This is really annoying, and sometimes, you can't even make jumps... There is also 2 player gameplay.

Flexibility/Features |
Look at the title with all of the options on just the menu. Now look at some of the actual gameplay screens. Need I say more?

Overall Impression |
Okay, I admit...this is a good game, but the gameplay needs a lot of work. Everything else is great, however!
