Hi All,
I run a small web design forum and just started QBasic programming on monday. I find it to be very fun and plan on adding a QBasic forum to my website. If anybody has any downloads to offer, or would like to help out please send me an email or visit the forums:

I haven't set up the forum yet, I'm still waiting for some good content. Please help out and if you can, join the forums.

thank you both.
the banner was made by me, but the skin was made by a friend of mine. I run my own web design firm on the side, so I have to make sure everything looks nice.

thanks for the welcome
hopefully I can learn to incorporate my graphics into the QBasic stuff I make. I've still got a lot to learn.

You're welcome. Have you heard of FreeBasic yet? If not, you should take a look here:
http://www.freebasic.net read all about it.
To be brief, FreeBasic is the natural evolution of QB to the DOS 32 bits and Windows World. and then I know you could use your talents to their fullest in a freebasic project or 12....

yeah, Pete mentioned it in another topic I started, and I've heard everybody else talking about it a lot. currently a programming course I am taking requires that I use QBasic for the schoolwork, but I might end up using FreeBasic in my spare time.
mostly I've been working with generators like Eliza, and sifting through source coding to see what I can learn. as far as original programs, I've only made a simple chat bot using LET, INPUT, and IF commands. It came out pretty good for my first shot, but it definitely isn't worth releasing.

alright, back on topic
does anybody have anything to contribute to my forums?
would anybody here join if I were to start a QBasic / FreeBasic area?

Hard to say, I think we're saturated with QB Forums....Know what might be a good idea? A non programming forum. Let me explain
.
We're all coders here
. Right? imagine, as a coder, you work on a project for a while and start to feel the dreaded syndrom that makes you throw your project in "File 13". You could go someplace to talk about it...
Imagine you're a coder (that's not hard to do lol). And you want to start a project but have no idea what to do and you knew you actually had a place to go to to try to get some idea for a new project
.
Imagine you want to learn a language but don't know which one to learn next and you'd know where to go to find some direction
.
You know where I'm getting with this? A place for coders to go to when Coding is not in their mind at the present moment so to speak
.
EDIT: Of course Dr_D and DrV could both moderate that forum since the both have Dr in their name....the Drs are IN
lol

so basically, a support forum where coders can go to get ideas, etc?
your description confused me a little. Do you mean a place to go when coders get fed up and need a break, or a place to go when coders need ideas or inspiration?

A bit of both...
....but anything else that's not related to coding but could server coders
...

Maybe even a logic puzzle section or something

yeah, sorta like a coffeehouse thing, where you go when code has you going crazy to relax and talk about whatever you want.

by MystikShadows
Exactly what Deleter said
......man I wish I could speak english sometimes...LOL
Posted: Mon Jun 20, 2005 1:15 pm
by Deleter
lol, yep maybe you'd be better if we spoke freebasic instead.
*thinks*
IF programmer = frustrated THEN goto relaxing forum
IF programmer = relaxed THEN works better on program

LOL yeah....I think I could deal with that.
lol...
SELECT CASE WhatToDoNext
CASE TakePiss
GOTO Toilet
CASE DrinkCoffee
GOTO Kitchen
END SELECT
Toilet:
CALL TakeCareOfBusiness(noneedforparameters)
RETURN
Kitchen: ' What else a coder do in the kitchen but make coffee? lol
CALL JustDoIt()
RETURN
EDITED: To think all this came from an idea to create a forum...the mind....what a wonderous thing

no offense, but I actually understood everything better when you spoke in Basic, though I do think it would become pretty confusing to any newcomers if everybody were speaking that way.
well, the forums already have a coding and designing support area, along with a general discussion area, and coding discussion area

seriously, I think you should consider calling one the coffee house forum, because every other basic forum has everything you have there....
.....which is what I thought you were trying to avoid.

can you send me a PM describing it in a little more detail
IE, tell me what category it should go under, what should be inside of it, the forum description, etcetera
