There is one set of traffic lights in my village, to help pedestrians cross the village road. That's right, THE road. We only have one.
Amazing. :-)

Hmm... in Nebraska, back in the 1980s, my dad wrote a ATM program, and we went back there a few years ago and a lot of ATMs there still use that same program he made...
There's lots of hidden talent in Nebraska.

Ask your dad if he worked for the bank that installed these ATM's, or did he work for the company that supplied banks with ATM's.

There are different programs involved with an ATM system:
1) The program resident on the ATM itself, which operates the functions of the ATM: card and PIN reading, interface with the user, dispensing cash and receipts, and interfaciing with the bank's system via communications. Back in the 1980's these intricate programs ran on microprocessors like the Alpha-16.

2) The program on the bank's network that handles the input and output communications with multiple ATM's conforming to the protocol of the particular ATM's, and also communicates with the bank's debit and/or credit systems. This program also handles transaction encryption, processor redundancy, and ATM recovery and failure.

3) The debit and credit systems of the bank that have special programming for handling transactions from ATM's.

I worked on programs for #2 and #3 above. Which ones did you dad work on?

Ask your dad to email me at: moneo@prodigy.net.mx
so we can talk about old times, and not bore the others with this stuff.

haha! heres NATHAN1993 on LINUX interviewing his dad about the atms...

#1 anyway, he says that it did the communication with the bank.

#2 He doesn't think so, but he sounds unsure.

#3 That isnt a question.

As for emailing him, he says to email him at tkessler0933@earthlink.net (dont worry, its not earthlink, that sucks... its Sprint DSL, but its lead or something by earthlink)

I'm not familiar with the song --- humm a few bars.

BTW, I always thought a port-of-call was any port that a particular ship stopped at. :?:

What brand?
Not sure, but buying any brand will keep the price high. :-)

Hey, Nekrophidius, that's a neat animation. :-)
It must be an IBM keyboard. :-D Long the keyboards that you can lift weights with!

P.S. Just tonight, I had a cup of locally made premium ice cream. It contains locally grown peanuts. It is very good.
