Both the Desktop 1703 and laptop 1709 versions are slow to respond on wake up.

Desktop required a full reboot to use after a few days sleeping...

Laptop and desktop PC's have problems scrolling in Chrome browser.
Laptop is also slow at opening pages in Chrome...

Windows 10's future look could be Sets, a tabbed app interface
The concept includes two major components: the organization of the different app windows into Sets; and the longer-term evolution of how Windows intelligently recognizes how Sets should be formed, which is part of the rollout and evolution of Timeline. Timeline will be rolled out almost immediately to Insiders, followed shortly by Sets.

Ex-Microsoft Product Manager reveals the unsurprising reason for the company’s decline
Being abandoned by developers and the so-called “app gap” has been the main reason Microsoft has become an increasingly weak platform company. From a company that has been best known for their stability and backwards compatibility, Microsoft is now seen as an unreliable partner not worth betting on.

Of course, ultimately the issue is a lack of strong leadership in Microsoft over the course over many, many years, with the leadership itself being embattled by the board and shareholders.

Here's why Microsoft dropped its Delve app for Windows 10
On the Windows front, it looks like Microsoft is exploring new ways to make search more front-and center in Windows 10. A new, immersive search experience, similar to Apple's macOS Spotlight, will likely be testable soon by Windows Insiders. Users will be able to search for files, pictures, settings, apps and more via a search box that will be independent from the current Cortana search box in Windows 10.

Evidence mounts that laptops are terrible for students at lectures
To study this, researchers at Princeton University and the University of California asked a group of students to take notes at a lecture using pen and paper while another group used laptops. The experiment found that the students who used a laptop did not understand the lecture as well as those who wrote their notes out by hand. The researchers hypothesized that this was because students who wrote notes by hand had to process what the lecturer was saying and, in effect, summarize what was being said to keep up with the lecture. Additionally, they found that laptop note takers had a “tendency to transcribe lectures verbatim,” which mean they were less likely to process information into their own words, thus preventing them from truly understanding what was being taught.

Chrome Apps are dead, as Google shuts down the Chrome Web Store section
More than a year ago, Google announced that Chrome Apps would be removed from Windows, Mac, and Linux versions of Chrome (but not Chrome OS) some time in 2017, and it seems we've come to that point today. Google has shut down the "app" section of the Chrome Web Store for those platforms, meaning you can't install Chrome Apps anymore. Google has started sending out emails to Chrome app developers telling them that Chrome Apps are deprecated, and while previously installed apps still work, the functionality will be stripped out of Chrome in Q1 2018.

UK's GCHQ found out how to hack Windows Defender to own your PC
Microsoft has released an out-of-band patch for two severe flaws in Windows Defender. The flaws were discovered by the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC), a unit of the UK's spy agency GCHQ, which dispenses cyberdefense advice to the government and public.

Just last week, for example, the NCSC told UK agencies hosting information classified 'secret' never to use any Russian antivirus, including Kaspersky, due to the risk of Russian cyber-spies using it as a backdoor.

The NCSC's probe of Microsoft's antivirus uncovered two critical remote code execution bugs in the core of Windows Defender, called Microsoft Malware Protection Engine.

Microsoft's Edge browser is in serious trouble
The resulting data, which Net Applications implied depicted Edge's real use, showed that the browser was a prime target of bot-wielding scammers. By comparing Edge's old and new shares, it was evident that as much as half of the earlier Edge traffic had been faked by bots. The portion of Edge's share credited to bots fluctuated month to month, but fell below 30% in only 4 of the 19 months for which Net Applications provided data.

Edge wasn't the only browser that came out looking worse than presumed prior. Microsoft's legacy browser, Internet Explorer (IE) also was revealed as a Potemkin village. Under the old data regime, which included bots, IE's user share was overblown, at times more than double the no-bots reality.
