7.1 is better than 4.5

The reason many people like 4.5 is because many of the old libraries only work under 4.5

Although, I suggest you check out freeBASIC: www.freebasic.net
I have left this dump.

I got QB 1.1, 4.5, and 7.1... 7.1 is some what faster and stronger than the others, but if you get into libs, 4.5, Like Z!re commented, runs more of 'em...

If you don't need any Libs any time soon, stick with the 7.1, its sweet and has more optimization on compiling your codes...

And FreeBasic is even sweeter, and almost just like the QB series.. just bigger, tons more powerful,.. did I say it was sweet yet? hehe

yeah it's sweet alright, so sweet you gotta brush your teeth everytime you use it...LOL

Seriously, though, I recommend the PDS. and I have precise reasons to do so ;-).

- Overlay ability (up to 16 Megs split into 64 overlays of 356Kb each) qb 4.5 doesn't do that hence you're limited in program size (that can play a great deal in more complex games and applications.
- more statements
- faster compiled code

but for the libs, what the other two said has to go, qb 4.5 does run more of them.

FreeBasic does Windows Console, GUI if you want (with the API), Linux, and recently DOS 32 bits (woohooo! lol). so you give me a good reason not to make the move? lol

IDE = Integrated Developement Environment.

It's wha you use to type your code.

In QB it's the blue thingy with all the menus :D

:D , Yeah, and QB the IDE and compiler come togetter,. but the first time I got FB I got the compiler and not the IDE so it didn't work,.. this is what confused me until Mystik helped me out,.

This is why I think you need Von's, his we'll set up every thing for ya... it also has a quick run so you don't have ta save and compile every time you go to test it. Or at least the first IDE I found you had to, and it didn't work with the QB gfxs comands at all,. but(you really getting I'm liking this IDE) Von's reads 'em "Yay!" :D

Hey Z!re, I don't use the blue background, it hurts my eyes starting at it...

So I made a silver background with the nonbright white letters, and it looks a whole lot better..... :D

also now my efficentcy is up because of it.....
