Is Petesqbsite dead?

Post by angros47 »

Last site update: 2008
Last QBExpress update: 2008

Forum has posting bugs.
When somebody asks for help, the answer is almost the same (i.e. "how can I run QB under Windows 7? Use QB64. How can I use more than 256 colors? Use QB64. How can I use sounds? Use QB64. How ...? USE QB64!")

This site was one of my favourites, but now, interesting stuff is only in archives.
The sad thing is, the last new on the site remind that it was online from more than ten years... But, at this rate, it won't last other ten years.

Is Pete still here?

General interest in Basic coding has been decreasing since newer PC's cannot run Qbasic properly.

Plus negative people like you tend to lose my interest!

Pete has kept this site active for happy programmers. Try to smile or change your name to Angry.

But Network54 is still active.

I'm not negative. I like coding in basic, and I often use freebasic (have you seen my MiniB3D port? I hope it will encourage somebody to try 3d game programming in basic)
Try to smile or change your name to Angry.
Nice pun!

It's ok?

Pete still posts here SOMETIMES.
As I recall, he quit updates and made most of the features not work because of the spammers who kept screwing up the file archives. Petesqbsite is not dead as far as its users go. It still gets tons of views and a new member like every few days.

As for QBasic or any other BASIC, it is not dead. Many programmers still see it as an important part of the programming world and that you are missing out i you do not learn QBasic.

I think the main reason the QBasic community looks dead is the lack of new content. Virtually no new software. No new Zines. No new reviews. Nothing. All we have now is old and new users leeching off of old stuff. That is why I am creating my own Zine. Even though I suck as a programmer, I still can contribute by bringing people together.

Oh and let me just take this moment to throw my site out there.
It may not be anything special, but I still update it. And the forum is fairly active, It just needs new users! www.geekbasic.com

I've never said that: qbasic is still used (at least, on network54 there is still a community), Freebasic is in good shape, and qb64 is growing.

I was talking about petesqbsite. I hope that your site will be able to provide the same: I'd like to see an e-zine about basic, because I miss them.

Petesqbsite is not dead! It still has a pulse.

Kinda.

At the very least, it will be online in its present form forever.

I still care about this site. I am planning to do some major updates here at some point. I just have to find the time...life is busy, and after nearly twelve years, I've moved on to other projects. Someday...

The posting problem is back again Pete. It has been giving "invalid session" a lot. What really pisses me off is that it removes your signature so that you have to go back, recheck the signature box and post it again.

Sometimes the signature box is missing also!

I think programming forums in general all are being replaced by social forum (facebook, myspace, twitter ...)

...and other current programming language more modern, look:

As you say, the Spanish team is arrogant.

This year will be like all going to miss again as usual.

Here, journalists, television and radio, would have us believe that we are the best in the world,...

... but then the reality is quite another, we are mediocre.

I guess, as always, the final play Brazil, Argentina, Germany or some other accident.

Regards from Spain

IS Petes site Dead?Thankfully no..

Post by GarryRicketson »

Hello, I am new to here, but ok anyway, thank fully the site is not dead,
recently I posted a question in yahoo repuestas asking about how to use, qbasic, or how to make a .bas file executable, and someone recomended this site..I kinda dropped out of computers about 15 years ago, but recently got back into it this year, alot
has changed in 15 years, However, I am more comfortable useing Dos, then windows, but I never had been able to figure out how to use Qbasic,
then recently, when I found this sitem I copied(downloaded) the tutorials,...also got some software, it is GREAT!..I finally am beginning to understand how to do something with Qbasic...thanks very much to petes qbsite, and hope it continues, and also if ever there is anything I can do to help feel free to ask...I have a bunch of questions, but will post them later in the appropriate place,if I dont find the answers...
Thanks again for a Great site....
