just wondering

Post by sid6.7 »

just looking back over time i was surmising on
what it was like during the qbasic hey days...

THEN:
considering some form of basic was part of college
courses i'd say there were probably a few million
"ACTIVE" programmers/users out there for qb stuff..

NOW:
after going over the web and checking on any sites
that might still exsist i'm thinking that the number
now might be as high as 2000 with only 200-300
"ACTIVE" at any one time...

when you search there are 500,000 "words" but most of
those are multi-page references I.E my site has qbasic
listed somewhere about 5 times i know some of these bigger
qb sites have qbasic listed above 100x including forums...

im thinking you could divide by 1000 and come closer to
how many actual sites there are...then subtract dead sites
you'll get down to 200 hundred or so...

now there maybe alot of "users" rather then programmers
i wouldnt know how to measure that..

what say you? am i off?

my guess, based on all my thinking, is 1,500 qbasic sites. or less. but we basically know it's more than 500.
