Zine downloads...

Post by coldacid »

For all the zine issues that are hosted here and not elsewhere (pretty much all but QBCM, thinks I), why aren't there downloadable versions available? Or, at least, why can't I find them off of the Zines page?

Well cA, there mabey a few expl...
  • They don't want you to download them, cause they want you on there site
  • They didn't think that people would want to download them
  • They don't know how to make them avalible for download
  • They just don't care
Well those are my theories, Pete will probaly find this thread and might reply to satisfy your, and mine now, curiousities.....

Mitth, he's talking about the Zines archive that is available here on Petes site.

Well, not having downloadable versions available, even for zines that used to have them, sucks for people like I who don't have net access at home. (Yes, such people still exist.) So hopefully Pete can package up the zines for download for all.

I'd like the same for QB Express, too, of course.

2>open da zine
3> right click & save as
4> copy the zine to a floppy/cd or hardrive if its a laptop (yay! laptop!

That's all good for zines with only the page content, but what about ones that had downloadable issues complete with additional content? That's no good, in those cases (such as QBCM, which I have from the QBCM site, or QBTM).

And seriously, did you think I didn't consider doing that?

I think pete is kind of swamped in real life things at the moment, so.. if you want the zines in the near future, your best bet would be to manually download them... sucks.. i know... =(

Good idea. (Though the reason I made the "Zines" section was because previously, the only way to get most QB zines was to download a 17MB zip archive that was very unweildly to use.)

Anyhow, I'll put it on my 'to do' list...

Which would you prefer -- zip archives of all issues of a magazine, or just individual issues?

By the way, you're Evilbeaver / Zapbatz, right? What's up man? Long time, no see!

I would prefer one zip per zine.

Pete: Individual archives would probably be best, but for those that used to offer their own zips, like QB:tM, if you have those around use those zips rather than making new ones.

And... Yes, it is I, good ole' General Rancour. I'm back, big as life and twice as ugly!

Yeah, it's been waay too long. Hate it when life interferes on fun.

Nek: Werd. I've been back on EFNet for a couple days, been missing you there. By the way, those harmony.dll functions that you didn't do in that VB5 project... Got them worked out?

hi all

Saw you guys talking about firefox before.

learn more about firefox trend(s)

This is really interesting, looks like a graph over time of the number of times " firefox " has been mentioned, it does this by graphing the results in google yahoo etc, very interesting, you can see just how popular firefox is becoming
