i am in the border with USA, 64 miles from you, over here Theophage, in this country we have a day for every profession (doctors, lawyers, etc.), so "i thought" could exist a day for the programmers.Theophage wrote:Can you believe it took me a few minutes of going "What the hell?" to figure that one out? How about this for Programmer's Day:
December 31st of a leap year that begins on a Saturday, like 1972 or 2000 or 2028. These are years that only a programmer would appreciate because the week logic in his programs probably blew up.
Hint: Since weeks begin on a Sunday (in the USA), December 31st of the above type year, will be Sunday, the first day of the 54th week. Most people think that there are 52 or 53 weeks per year.

I say it should be January 2nd, January 4th, January 8th, January 16th, February 1st, March 5th, May 8th or September 13th!

It should be 01/10/11 or any date, ever, with just zeros and ones.

...except that you couldn't have it every year that way. I still dig the "OCT 30 / DEC 24" thing
For those who didn't get it, and you know who you are, Oct 30 looks like October 30th, but could also mean the number 30 in Octal or base 8. Dec 24 looks like December 24th, but could also be 24 in Decimal or base 10. And of course, Octal 30 = Decimal 24...

The programmers' day should relate to the date when the first program was written, I know that few people know it (I don't!), but it's seems very reasonable to me!
