Was neozone productions ever archived. Unfortunately I never visited the site but it seems that almost every qbasic website had a link to it!

Haha, NeoZones was my favorite QB site back in the day, so I know quite a bit about it. I actually got an email from Tek out of the blue a few months ago that was like "wow, I can't believe this QBasic stuff is still going!" I'll try to email him to see if he has any backups. His professional website is: http://www.tekscode.com

NeoZones Productions was once hosted at these addresses, and possibly more:

(1997? - 1999) http://www.geocities.com/SiliconValley/Vista/2804

(1999 - 2001?) http://neozones.quickbasic.com

(2001 - 2002?) http://neozones.tekscode.com

As far as archives, there's some stuff on archive.org from the tekscode.com days...

http://web.archive.org/web/200107211237 ... scode.com/

This was really after its prime, and far from complete. The site went down, and Tek and a few old NZ community members tried to relaunch it, but it never lived up to what it was back in 1997- 1999 or so.

Already got an email back from Tek! He says he might have some backups, at least of the HTML / PHP portions of the site (but none of the old "QCity" files archive), and he'll upload it somewhere.

Wow, almost every QB site used the same message board format: http://web.archive.org/web/200108031041 ... board.php3

Just like FlatForum (by Plasma) and QB45's original message board.

I think Marcade scooped up the domain but I'm not sure.

Also qbasicfreak, QBARP (QBasic Archive Project) supports PHP and MySQL so if you need a MySQL database, just let me know.

There's a reason for that... back in 1997 and 1998, this website Server.com gave away free simple discussion boards that everyone in the QB scene used. There was no good, free forum software available that you could run on free hosting like Geocities, Hypermart or AOL Hometown (where just about all the QB sites lived), so that was the best option.

Eventually, people wrote their own versions of the Server.com discussion board format...Marcade wrote a clone of that type of forum that a bunch of QB sites installed...it's still used at neozones.com... and then later Plasma made a version in PHP.

Ahhhh.... I was wondering why so many QB sites adopted that message board style.

I wasn't really online until 2001/2002 since I was a wee lad in 1997 and didn't have my own PC until 1999.
