ahh, the coveted qbasic.com domain name is finally open. I am suprised no one has claimed the freebasic.com domain... and remember, theres also freebasic.de, freebasic.co.uk... and many others!

I think he ment he wanted to make a new site, not just restore the original.

I really hope he makes a good site with that domain name. He's instantly going to get the most traffic of any QB site, be listed first in all of the search engines, and attract almost all the newbie QB coders...so if there's a bad site up there, it's a real shame. He's got a real responsibility to make QBasic.com something good, since it's such an important domain.

But I'm worried....From the way he's talking, it sounds like he's gonna make the new site from scratch. And if his current site is any indication, I think my worry is well-founded:

I do know he's looking for help on the design side as well as contents...So let's wait see where it goes before we see where it goes. Let's all, for the time being...be even too fat to jump to a conclusion...ROFLMAO

I would just be kinda angry if a small site that has just started is listed first in the search engines and gets the most traffic of any QB site -- when I've worked on my site for over 7 years and it's much better...

Basically, I'm just jealous. I want that domain name! :P

LOL.....well from what I've seen here...no one is more deserving than you :-). with all the hardwork designing your site and even the much harder work of putting all the quality contents that you have on your website and all that as organized at i can get. :-). Your contents aren't the kind of contents you build over night here. in fact, in 7 years like you said, there's alot of material for that period of time :-).

All I know is Mark got his work cut out for him ;-). Taking on QBasic.com is no small job. Not's not a "do a website in a weekend for the hell of it" project. And I hope that if he can't complete it, for any reason, that he'll think about you as his successor :-).

Pete, I think that's why he asked for help. And don't worry, you're only 12th in a Google search for "QBasic" :)

Although, if Microsoft decides to start enforcing copyright laws on QuickBasic (not QBasic, since they distribute it free) and he offers anything above 1.1 on his site, his site will be the first Micro$hit finds and takes down. A sad thought, indeed.
But otherwise, good luck

Pete, get him to LINK to you at least, cuz if he doesnt finish it (which I hope he does) they will at least get directed to the best QB site on the web!

Woah, did anyone else catch the hidden message at the bottom of Mark's site?

http://qbasic.us.to/

Highlight the hidden text next to the counter.

It has to do with the wretched color scheme. It's hard to read dark blue text on a green background, so I highlighted it to make the links more visible.

Lo and behold, I found the hidden message.
