Guest Posting Disabled

Hey guys --

I've had to disable guest posting of new content to all sections of this site (downloads, tutorials, QB news, philosophy...everything.)

A spambot company somehow found out about the submission forms and has inundated the site with ads for Phenteremine and $$$ and Pornography. They submit so much spam that the site database has crashed four times in the past week, and I've had to restore it from backup. This is a total pain in the ass.

I will come up with a better solution to this eventually, but for now, all submissions are disabled.

I personally dont like "must to register/log in"

I don't much like having to register when I'm just looking for some information on a site that I got from a Google search.

But in the case of a guest coming to this forum, he's usually going to post a question or ask for help. In this case, he's asking for technical information for a particular problem to be provided expressly to him by experts in the subject matter. I think that this situation warrants his having to register the first time. After all, the registration is very simple. We're not asking for his Social Security number nor a credit card number, nor his mailing address, etc.

That is shitty thing. I know few peoples who has forum and they expect user to register even to read post's. Thats a crappy thing. Alltho i do understand IE:qbn went to this because of net bots.

But it's possible to edit phpBB so that only registered and logged users can see profiles etc.

What comes for registering before posting, it is is a opinion matter. I dont see any reason to force user for registering. Many times he/she will ask one or two questions and prolly hes not never seen after that. Or maybe he will come back after an year, dont remember pw or nick, dont have same email anymore and then he just re-registers and mysql fills up with an useless registrations.

If user stays around, he/she will register and if not, no one get's hurt.
But as told, opinion matter.

Forcing registration makes it harder for spambots. The end, nothing more to discuss.

I meant I disabled the guest posting feature on CORANTO, not on phpBB! (Guest posting on phpBB has been off for a while.)

Coranto is the CGI app that manages all of this site's submissions and dynamic content.

PS: Sorry QB Express isn't out yet. I would do it, but I have been so busy that I haven't slept more than three hours a night in the past week.

I'm completely overwhelmed this semester.

In the meantime, check out this video I animated the other day:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tFxUNoKR7UA

It's a clip I made starring the characters from my cartoon show, Unicorn Boy, from the live movie reviews show that I direct every week. A review of Snakes on a Plane. Snakes on a Plane: Great movie, or Greatest movie ever?

Heh, funny cartoon.

BTW, who does the voice of Unicorn Boy? He's cool.

Here's the first FULL episode of Unicorn Boy (it's 26 minutes long):

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G0plvM9fgOs

We have 16 more episodes written, and three more recorded, but animating them takes so long that we haven't even finished our full second episode.

The first episode is a little slow, because we wrote it so that there were very few characters, a lot of talking and not a lot of movement (to make it easier to animate). Our forthcoming episodes are faster-paced and overall, much more funny.

No. Wrong.

You have the biggest, best (my opinion), and longest-running QB magazine ever. Your doing a great job, but your life is getting in the way. No one can help that. School, work, family -- that should all come first. QB:XP is great, but if it's getting in the way, I'm sure we can live without it. Or, you could officially make it bi/tri/quad monthly. Although a quad-monthly QB:XP would not be too great, it's better than no QB:XP at all.

Please, just don't turn emo on us.

EDIT: Check out my post count!

Perhaps that idea about a co-editor is not bad now. I think MystikShadows would be a good one. You two could balance nicely between your obligations and perhaps be able to release QB Express every 2 months.

This is really getting ridicolous. I hope I'll never be living an existance where in 2 motnhs I won't be able to find 8 hours to dedicate to a hobby.

Yeah....sorry QB Express has suffered.

I've just spent the last three days working straight through from 9:00 AM until 4:00AM....and it's a Monday. So that means I spent my entire weekend Friday, Saturday and Sunday doing work.

It's mostly because of this reality show I'm producing and directing this semester. It is similar to "The Amazing Race" -- only on a smaller scale. Six teams of two racing across New York State over four days (October 19th-22nd). Planning this event is one of the most difficult things I've ever done in my life. I have to coordinate everything for a crew of over 30 people as well as 12 contestants and a host -- challenges, camera equipment, maps, lodging, food, everything -- on absolutely no budget. Everything has to be donated.

Some advice: Never plan an 8 camera, forty person reality tv show on your own.

Huh, I thought/hoped reality TV was as good as dead.
Pretty cool that you are making one thought. Hope all goes well.
