QB Express will be coming out soon.

If you aren't happy with the release schedule, why don't you start your own magazine? That's what others are planning to do. There are two now mags: PCOPY and FreebasicNews.com that will compete with QB Express.

And no, I'm not going to pass off QB Express to someone else. Experience has shown in the past, time and time again, that that's the first step to having a magazine die.

No, the delay was definitely my fault. I take full responsibility.

The thing about QB Express is the submissions generally come in whenever I set the deadline (that's why the deadline is so important). I sometimes do extend the deadline a little bit to get more articles, but usually only a few more trickle in after the extension.

At one point, I released an issue just 15 days after I released the previous issue, and it had just as many articles as a normal issue.

The most important thing about publishing an online magazine with user submissions is momentum. If you let your release dates slip, or delay the publication, people start to lose interest. That's why there are fewer articles in the last few issues than there were a year ago. I've just been too busy to keep up, and QB Express has dropped down a bit on my list of personal priorities. You all can tell that it's weaker than it was a year ago.

But don't worry, QB Express is still thriving. It is still the most productive site in the Qmunity in terms of releasing new content, and we still release more articles per month than the majority of QB magazines managed to put out in three non-monthly issues.

It's going to stay that way. FreeBASICNews' magazine will most-likely be an every three months sorta thing. ^_^;; I hope Mr. Match's computer's back out of the shop heheh...

Pete,

I think you're doing a great job with QBE. There are those of us who sincerely appreciate all your efforts and contributions to the editing of the magazine, and we are not concerned with a few days or weeks delay.

Well, good! Then you would agree that it's not a big deal that #21 isn't out yet.

But I have a good reason, seeing as I'm homeless again. I had to move out of my apartment this morning, and I still haven't moved into my new place. And even still, at my new place, I will have no bedroom. My choices are: a corner of the dining room, a walk-in closet, or sleep on the couch for two months.

Ahhhhh, the life. Hopefully I'll have a place to set up my gigantic, obnoxious desktop computer. (All this moving makes me really wish I had a laptop....)

Is that, "The college life," that's causing the dysfunctionality?

Ahhh... I remember those days.

OUCH! Who left these damn guitar strings on the floor?

sorry to here your homeless, i did that for about a week once
lived in my truck...it sucked in many ways...

the walk-in closet sounds do-able though a bit more privacy maybe?

I'd say the walk-in closet would be the best, but you'd have to put a light that is controlled on the inside in there (duct tape = easy).

I love little delay...
It's like Xmas gift...
or when you're waiting for a very best friend at the train station, with a delayed train.
impatience, exaltation, heart beating...
Keep going pete, take the time you need ! We can wait... even if it's hard
QBE will be released when it's done !

Hope you all have fun !

Allright, QB Express #21: Back in production. I've moved into the walk-in closet at my friends' place....it's small, but pretty comfortable. It wouldn't be too bad if it wasn't so ungodly hot. I'm living in the San Fernando Valley, just north of Hollywood, and it's just about the most godawful hot place on the planet.

I'm off to go buy a second fan...hopefully I'll be able to cool if off a bit more in here. (The first fan is shooting directly into my computer right now because it kept on overheating.)
