The question is...why do these sort of posts attract more people than some other, worthy posts?

It was obviously a spambot...so just leave it until the mods delete it.

I decided to leave it, as there were replies to it.
In order to avoid people asking where their posts went.

Posts have lives of their own, how they started often becomes a moot point. The "worthy posts" are usually less populated because people don't want to "ruin" them, hence they last shorter.
