you mean the DOS command prompt?

isn't there some kind of switch you can add to the end of the command, like "/p" (minus the quotation marks) that makes it spit out the results a page at a time, requiring a keypress to go on?

i would imagine you could have a horizontal velocity variable. like lets say it's "xvel"

it starts out being 5 and then when the conditions are right it gets set to -5

then each frame you just have bx = bx + xvel and update the screen

I recently moved all my projects to a different system. In the past I was developing on an old Compaq running Win95. Now I've put that old thing away I started working on my fresh install of WinXP on my main system. Made the identical folders and just copied everything over, code, notes, QB7.1, ever...

thanks everyone. lachie, i poked around in freebasic and i think you might be on to something. I'm currently working on a few QuickBASIC projects right now, but I think in the future I want to give FB a try. The relaxed memory limitiations are particularly appealing to me. I'm always getting the &qu...

how about making a specific output requirement in the shortest amount of code? A required output is given and participants must figure out the quickest way to achieve that output using the least amount of code. Size matters.

beautiful. runs really smooth for me. makes me think of NES games, the way the scrolled at just the right speed to give the illusion of fluid motion (as opposed to jerky redraw)

i dig it

Hello, all! I can't believe there's a QBasic community here, still alive and kickin! I've dabbled with BASIC on and off for more than 20 years and just figured no one messed with it anymore. Even tried to make an RPG once (it's playable, but you run out of things to do in about 10 minutes). Just wan...
