Amen

You got that right, Pete! Mark is keeping the site name for some stupid reason. He lost interest years ago.

You DON'T wanna see anything hard that I have Noddy!

I said he posted everywhere. I'm not answering his rude butt anymore! I'm not keen on answering to you either.....

Perhaps we can talk when Puerto Rico wants to be a state. Instead of a bunch of freeloaders!

Jack

He got married and now a kid is on the way. No wonder he lost interest in his site for now. His video is pretty awsome! Originally you could download it there, but he decided to put it on Utube. I have the original download, but I will not share it. As he decided otherwise!

How many members do you have there now? If a person is too lazy to register, then their code is probably lazy too. I don't want to view that type of code anyhow. I know what you are trying to say, but spammers are ruining too many open sites already. The best way to stop them is to strip any proxie ...

If you enjoy doing that then fine. I don't think that Pete wants to constantly oversee that stuff. Especially spam! When you get older and wiser you will probably not be so inclined. I have to laugh at members doing it. You can prosecute easily when you have their IP and email address. User friendly...

NOTE!

One note of caution about PortTalk.

If you do not designate a port address, it may cause your mouse to quit working! Without a port address, it opens all ports for access, shutting off the mouse perhaps.

YES, naturally you can substitute a variable. INSTR also allows you to search from a starting point: start% = INSTR(begin%, teststring$, word$) You can omit it if you begin at the first letter of text. This allows you to do multiple searches for more than one repetition in a text line. Just use begi...

How it works at QB Station

No way should just anybody upload files! After all, they can't post here without logging in. You could get virus or trojan uploads from idiots too. If they want to upload a file, they need to at least join. Then you can go after the idiots! Pete could add a "My Files" link for members who ...

HUH? I guess you want hello included. Since the file is all text, you can use LINE INPUT #1, textline$ to get each line of text in a loop. Watch out for EOF! Then you can check for "Hello" using start = INSTR( textline$, "Hello"). INSTR returns the first position of the word in t...

The only files that can be uploaded are ZIP files. Somebody could try to cheat by naming it a zip. I reported it to Jack if I found one. I only have found two. ALL posters are Members only! That way they can organize and modify the descriptions and upload updates. There is a user list called My File...

That is probably the only thing keeping the site alive. The owner, Jack, has little interest in maintaining it anymore. However he made it run on it's own pretty well. You might want to check out how it works for uploads and their descriptions without being a burden for moderators or the site owner....

Yes he did. The solution would be to work with an 8.3 filename in QB and then use a SHELL "Cmd /C ren shortnme.ext longname.ext" in NT or XP. Use SHELL "Command ........ in Win9x. http://www.network54.com/Forum/13959/message/1226697557/What+is+a+%26quot%3Bdos+directory%26quot%3B- Ted

Good job. You don't have to redraw most of the menu. Just GET and BSAVE the drawn parts and add the updated data. Screen 13 allows you to GET most of the screen.

There are a couple of ways to deal with COM ports in QB. You can use the OPEN COM1 statement and use LOC(1) to find if data was received, INPUT$(1, bytes) to read the data, and PRINT #1 to transmit data. You could also use INP and OUT to deal directly with the COM port address registers. I have a tu...

Ralph, there is no Windows icon for BAS files! Just pick a pretty one.

Do what Nixon said:
Try going into my computer -> Tools -> Folder Options -> File Types -> and then go down to BAS and go into Advanced and change the icon.
Don't mess with the Registry at your age,

On my PC, .BAS files are associated with Visual Basic. Thus, if you click on them, VB displays them. So I often have to Open with QB or use the QB IDE. You can add QB to the Open with Menu also. Windows may not list it, so just find QB.EXE or QBASIC.EXE on the drive search. I do NOT recommend messin...
