Difference between QB45 and QB71?

Wow! It's been a Looooong time since I've been here. Life will do that to a man!

I've been going through my archives and ran across a copy of QB71. I'm trying to discern the differences between QB45 and QB71. What are the benefits of QB71 over QB45?

M$ also likes to ignore backward compatabilities in the last 8 years and soon will try to get rid of OLD stuff to make more money. M$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ This is a no-brainer. But it looks like it's finally starting to catch up to them. Open source is catching up, and on, and organizations a...

VB for DOS - Screen Modes

For those of you "lucky" enough to have used VB for DOS ... Can't figure this one out. I want to display my VB forms in a screen mode other than 0. I can use the "screen 13" statement in a .BAS module to change the mode, but then the forms do not display. Any attempt to display t...

Long live DOSBOX (not entirely true, or ofcourse the boot from USB/HD/etc. if you can still get your hands on MS-DOS....) Vista still has a cmd... but not like XP... Yeah, I've got an old copy of DOS 6.22, but don't really use it for anything at this time. Maybe one day I'll install it as a VM. Whi...

Well, this is a forum, eh?

I'm actually rather excited that QB forums are still in existence, given the age of QB itself.

Forum Timeouts

I keep having to re-login after attempting to post. Seems the login timeout is set very low. Any way to fix that?

QuickBasic/FreeBasic/QB64

Just an innocent question (and some comments afterwards :)) ... I'm only just recently coming back to QB after a 15 year absence. Now I see that there is the free FB compiler, and the QB64 (which I haven't looked at yet). But users of these different programs seem to be rubbing each other in the wro...

There is some interesting stuff. Keep this online ;) Goin to link this site to ascii-world.com I appreciate the interest! Just so you know, I probably won't be able to keep the stuff on my site for long, as it is on a personal ISP, and I don't want to overextend my bandwidth. I am looking for an ap...

SlowCoder's BASIC Programs

I am submitting my BASIC/QBasic code archive to you.

Check out my site: http://www.slowcoder.net/BASIC

I've listed a number of my own programs, along with others I can't directly take credit for.

Let me know what you think about them.

Thanks!

Say hello to the newcomer!

Hey, all! I've already posted some technical questions to your board, and am relatively happy with the results. I think it's time to introduce myself. I live in south-USA, and have been a programmer since the mid-80's when the Colecovision ADAM was brought into the house. I learned to program on the...

I figured it out. My QB libraries are not in the main QB path that is asked for by the DirectQB library builder. I had to copy the libraries to the root of my QB directory. Something I guess the author didn't consider.

Only last year, we were still seeing signs of high school kids being taught QB and VB. Now, I hardly see request for help from that source. And, with icrosoft's not supporting VB anymore, we will be seeing less and less people using the BASIC-based languages. There are a few small groups of very go...

QBasic 7.1

To Pete's QB Site: Now that I've found you, I intend to USE YOU! :)

It appears there are some benefits within 7.1 over 4.5.

Is QBasic 7.1 legally free to download (abandonware)?

Any other things to consider?

I agree that the easiest, and not worst way, would be to GET half tiles. Then, if the coordinate you plan to place a tile at is greater than screen width minus full tile width, place the half tile, instead. Also, if you don't want to rePUT the entire screen you can create a 2nd array that holds the ...

DirectQB library errors

Browsing your threads, I found a reference to DirectQB. I downloaded it, and ran the DQB manager to create the QLB and LIB files. No errors. When I run "QB /L DQB" from the DirectQB directory, I get the following error: "Error in loading file (DQB.qlb ) - Invalid format. I have tried ...
