Re: 30 years later, QBasic is still the best

2nd that. Really brought me back to me being a kid and learning for the first time.

Interestingly enough, apparently I already commented in the comments back in 2017... :)

Re: Is Microsoft already killing off Windows 7?

My work computer is still Win 7... I work on legacy systems so actually getting an upgrade come EOL in 2020 will be a coin toss for me.

Re: Minesweeper Duo (source & executable)

Nice release! Took me a minute to figure out the mouse controls no longer worked in game and I had to use the keyboard and "enter" to check for bombs.

Re: Panda BLAST!

Though I'm not a fan of blasting pandas. This is a really good QB game. The controls work exactly as you expect without having to think at all about them and the graphics are fantastic for QB. Really well done! I enjoyed playing it and will most likely load it onto my 486 and play some more. (The sh...

New Christmas Qbasic Game: Santa's Christmas Rescue

Hey all! I created a new Qbasic game for the season. I wanted to challenge myself actually complete a QB project in a few days and see how it goes. There's definitely bugs left (and I'd love to hear them!). The game comes with a level editor so you can create your own games. Basically after I create...

Re: Best QB Game Developer of All Time Tournament

Hey TopGun! Glad to hear you're still around making games after all these years as well. I'm not sure you remember me from wayyyyyyyy back in the day. I'm from Nukem Enterprises (Used to go by a whole slew of names back then, Nukem, Nuke, NukemNOW, etc). We still have our disc app board from back th...

Re: My first project needs a li'l help

Expanding on the previous post, below is a way to go about making the pets randomly walk around the screen. I used a TYPE struct to hold all the information related to the pet under one "animal" type. You could also just use independent variables if you wanted but I like keeping related variables ho...

Burger2227, it looks like it's still pointing to my old GeoCities page in the Links: http://petesqbsite.com/sections/links/links-N.shtml

Same here. It actually feels like it's been logging me out after even attempting to submit a reply. Its super frustrating.

Re: Pete's QBasic Site celebrates TEN YEARS

I'm thankful for being pat of the philosophy page (Nuke).

Any way of updating my link of the links page? Its right on the philosophy page but outdated on the links page. I know this is a tall order as this link is over 10 years old. Link should be: http//eriks.servehttp.com

Re:

We could use an update in participation around here! All I do anymore is control spammers. This forum has become a satellite of QB64 forum. Is there anybody, here, who still use qbasic? Or everybody uses qb64? Because, for qb64 users, there is no point in using this forum. Also, the site is almost ...

Ah, Text adventures are one of my favorite types of games! :D

Java Zork worked fine for me. About the n&s stuff, I always had problems myself walking around. Sometimes the directions don't work right. (Same goes for Adventure)

Idk about free basic but you can do it in old Qbasic like so: 'main CLS DIM the(0 TO 60) AS INTEGER FOR i% = 0 TO 60 'just filling the array... the(i%) = 5 NEXT i% CALL test(the()) END 'sub SUB test (thePassed%()) FOR i% = 0 TO 60 'dumping to screen to verify it worked. PRINT thePassed%(i%) NEXT i% ...

If you're looking for something similar to the C/C++ "\n" then see the post above me. If you're going to be writing them out a lot, you could always create a sub called "DisplayBattleText" (or whatever) and store the text in there. Then just use a "CALL DisplayBattleText" in your program when you wa...
