I remember a game like this from way back. You programmed the robot in Pascal, and pit different robots against each other. It was quite popular and a lot of fun. A variant of this type of game is called Core Wars . You write programs in Red Code, that try to destroy other programs within a "co...

I just saw that Deleter had already posted an article about dynamic arrays in a type-def in a past issue so my tutorial is probably not worth printing since it contains pretty much the same info. I don't want to be accused of stealing someone's idea. I hadn't realized that this info had already been...

I can run QBX on my Win2K Pro machine with no problems at all. Everything works just fine.

If you can't get it to work, you might want to try DosBox.

Go to the FB wiki. There are tutorials and documentation for the language.

I am currently writing a beginner's guide to FB, but it will be a couple months before it is out.

FreeBasic doesn't come with a built-in editor, so you will need to get an editor to write your programs. You can use any text-based editor. I use PSPad, there is also one built just for FB called FBIde. You can get it here: http://www.fbide.freebasic.net/ Just install this, point it to fbc.exe, whic...

Quantum computing. No moving parts, clock cycles at the speed of light, true multitasking with a single cpu, unlimited memory.

Of course a new version of FreeBasic would have to be written. :)

As Einstein said, time is relative to the observer, so time has to exist as a dimensional extension of the three spatial dimensions (or has a high order dimension encapsulating the three spatial dimensions). As you approach the speed of light, time seems to slow down for the traveler as observed fro...

This doesn't really suprise me. :) You scored as Millennium Falcon (Star Wars). The world around you is at war. Fortunately you know how to handle that with the greatest of ease. You are one of the best at what you do and no one needs to tell you that. Now if only the droids could be quiet for five ...

The question isn't what is the raw CPU power, but what is the effective through-put of the system? I put my system together a year or so ago, and based it on an AMD Athlon 1.1 ghz. However, I opted for a 300mhz bus on the motherboard instead of the standard 100mhz bus. This gives me an effective thr...
