Re: Microsoft released a modern Qbasic for Windows 10

I just looked it over, and I wouldn't touch it with Edge. It needs all sorts of permissions, which is extremely unreasonable for an ide that shouldn't be accessing the camera, etc. Plus it's not released by MS directly. Not that they would.

Re: Revitalisation

I very much like PDL (qbasic 7.1) best. I dislike QB64 using the 4.5 interface as I've gotten used to some things it doesn't implement. I'm working on a program right now, a simple 3D maze that has some "monsters" and messages and whatnot. I finished a "hangman" game I altered so...

Re: A bug in QB? Or is this a feature?

Ha! I had this issue as well, creating a Frogger clone, and fixed it with passing BY instead of referencing. Just trying to save memory by not using a stupid amount of globals, sheesh!

Re: Well, is this the end?

Could be, could be. Kids these days are into that "3D" graphics programming with Unity or UDK (which is a great product, btw). I run Linux and use DosBox for my QB fix as well. I found a good copy of QB7.1 PDL so I have ALL the libraries, ability to make EXE and DLL, etc. It's great. I mad...

Useful Subroutines

I'd like to continue the usefulness of the main pages' tutorials and maintain a thread that provides useful, simple, and modular routines that are absent from the tutorials. I run qbx 7.1, but I don't use extra libraries, kinda as a rule. Why, exactly? Think of it as a programming challenge. I grew ...

Re: Twenty Year Anniversary Update

Pete, thank you for keeping this site up and running. I've been using it as a resource for the last ten years or so. Before that I was just piddling around with what I knew. And before that, well, let's just say that Windows 3.1 was my favorite version. I'd love for the forums and the archives to st...

Re: qbasic won't start

Charlie, for starters, Welcome to the forums. And welcome back to QBasic. If you're having trouble with something simple, there may be a simple solution. However, if we are to figure it out, we'll need to know what you know. Are you running a Windows OS? If so, which one (as QB runs different on dif...
