Recently ran into a problem with a loose washing machine timer. The timer knob would not work
when the timer moved up and down and inward indicating that the timer was loose.

This fix will require the removal of the timer knob and the arrow plate. Pull the knob out and look
for a small yellowish plastic retainer clip between the knob and the arrow plate. Use needle nose
pliers to pull the retainer clip out from the side. Then pull the knob and arrow plate off the shaft.

The timer can be accessed by removing three 1/4 hex screws from the top of the back panel and
fold the front panel down toward the front of the machine. One screw holds the timer on the right.

A bracket retains the timer on the left, but it was broken off allowing the timer to move in:
Image
Align the timer with the bracket and drill a small hole through the bracket and through the front panel.
Use a flat head screw from the panel front to retain the timer. It will be hidden behind the arrow dial.

Replace the arrow dial by aligning the dial with the shaft notch. Turning the dial should make timer click.
Check the bottom of the timer knob to make sure that there are raised areas near the shaft hole to mesh
with the timer shaft gear on the machine. REPLACE KNOB or DIAL if mesh is worn out!

Put the retainer clip onto the knob through the slots and push it onto the end of the shaft until it clicks.

To follow along with our VoIP tutorial, you will need the following things:

Broadband Internet Access. (Unfortunately, VoIP is prohibitively bandwidth-hungry for dial-up.)
One OBi200 ($48), OBi202 ($64), or OBi110 ($70) VoIP Adapter (see our notes to see which model is best suited for you).
A free Google Voice account.
A $12/year Anveo account (Optional: required for E911 service).
One Ethernet cable to connect the VolP unit to the router.
One RJ11 telephone cable to connect the VolP unit to the phone or cordless base unit.
One corded or cordless telephone base unit.

Assuming the doorknob or deadbolt is already unlocked, but the swing security latch is set:
Image
Note that the knob will only slide out when the door is almost completely closed.

Push open the door to see where the security latch is and mark the top or bottom latch position:
Image
Mark or remember the vertical height of either horizontal bar of the swing bar

Slide a flyswatter into the door opening to start it and close the door as far as possible while pushing the swatter in:

Pull the swatter in and out until it swings the swing bar off of the interior latch knob.

The screw mounting plates could be made wider and actually overlap inside to prevent this from working...

That could also make it easier to install properly spaced also...

There are probably many ways to do this with things you have on hand. Maybe even a step pedal in same area.

A TSA key can open the lock on the bottom also. It is kind of small however and perhaps more secure?...

How to Open a Padlock With a Pop Can

The pop can supplies the sheet metal needed to pop the lock. Cut it in a 5 cm wide square area:

The tab at top is 1 cm wide at the center. Wings are also 1 cm wide and 5 cm long.

The T shaped tool is inserted tab down in the notched lock hasp end and the arms are wrapped around it.

Image

The secret is that the knives are interlocked, with the bottom knife also being on top of the first knife:
Image
You can even add water to the center glass if you wish. I did it on a rug so I didn't break anything.

Fact is that the center glass on the bottom was not even necessary with the butter knives I used.
The knives interlocked above it. It makes the illusion look better to slide the center glass out from under!
If the top glass were full of water it might not pull out easily, so add the water after it is removed.
